Food - Orfeu Cafés Especiais
Orfeu Cafés Especiais launched a Microlot that won the Cup of Excellence, the greatest and most prestigious international coffee competition for high quality coffee (something like an “Oscar Award” for this beverage).
The awarded Microlot – 2018-2019 harvest – a rare, handpicked, chemical-free coffee, called for an exclusive and innovative packaging that matched its quality.
Very few achieve an award-winning organic coffee, which requires the perfect combination of different factors such as altitude, weather, soil, innovation in coffee varieties, technology and know-how. Orfeu’s 100% organic coffee, grown at 5.250 feet on the mountains of Southern Minas Gerais, is the crop of nature at its best. The product’s visual concept and presentation had to express and highlight this rare combination of factors. Due to its resemblance to wine (with regard to the superior grape quality as well as its connoisseurs), the solution was to create an exclusive cylindrical package, a bottle that protects the beans from the light and keeps them fresh. Only 700 bottles of the awarded Microlot – 2018-2019 were made, all hand labeled and hand numbered, and were immediately sold out.
Organic crop, handpicked beans, unique combinations resulting in special editions. It’s no wonder that Orfeu Cafés Especiais has already won no less than 26 editions of the Cup of Excellence competition. And the most interesting is that the key concept of the company is to spare for the Brazilians the best beans produced. This principle is reinforced with the launch of other special editions, when the company invited Brazilian partners and chefs for the brand’s presentation to consumers. And our team was proudly chosen to create the visual concept and packaging of the products.

Bourbon Arara Microlot
Co-created together with the award-winning chef Alberto Langraf, it is our first blend edition of two iconic coffee varieties: Yellow Bourbon - with a citric flavor, and Arara - with sweet notes. The perfect balance between the contrasting flavors of orange and honey in a single cup, is a challenge to the taste buds.
For 50 years, Dr. José Braz Matiello, one of the greatest coffee researchers in the world, has been looking for new coffee varieties. As a tribute, in this Limited Edition one of his discoveries was selected, the rare Acaua coffee. The chocolate and vanilla flavor notes of these coffee beans provide a taste of Orfeu’s remarkable excellence.
Historic edition produced together with the talented chef Morena Leite, the Hummingbird Microlot is a rare type of coffee that has never been brewed and whose name come from its colorful pitanga and acerola scented cherries. An incredibly sweet tropical variety.
Yellow Bourbon Microlot
Considered one of the 10 best Brazilian coffees, the Yellow Bourbon Limited Edition is presented by chef Thomas Troisgros, who highlights the acidity of the beans, that wake up your taste buds – a feature he highly appreciates in all his gastronomic creations.
Enchanting coffee with notes of “paçoca”, tangerine leaves and honeycomb, the Japy Microlot Limited Edition beans were heated longer to reach the perfect roasting point, with the touch of chef Felipe Bronze, who considers smoke a key ingredient.
