Creating a digital energy manager to ease the life of small and midsize business
After digital platforms reshaped the functioning of big industries, now is the time for the impact of energy use. The intelligent management of energy consumption and portfolio is where Innowatio operates, an Italian company that helps industries, services and public administration on the intricate task of reducing energy expense through the adoption of technological and innovative solutions.
By turning specifically to clients from small and midsize business (SMBs), Innowatio faced itself with some questions: what sort of data could be useful to those companies? Do the same rules of the big companies’ game apply to them? How to explore the power of information of smart energy platforms to smaller-sized business?
With those questions in mind, and stimulated by the size of such challenge ahead, we were invited to join them in coming up with a solution.
The first step was to conduct an ethnographic survey with different players from SMBs who need to manage their consumption of energy. The main needs we identified were time saving and making management simple, since many of such companies don’t count on a manager who is dedicated to energy expense due to their smaller size.
We stepped straight ahead to develop a service whose value proposition was thought and set on to address the clients’ exact needs.
That way Sensee was born, the digital energy manager made for SMBs. Besides being a digital and easy-to-use service that provides useful insights based on energy consumption, it’s also a tool that enables the discovery of new ways of saving resources and taking care of the environment.
For the new technological platform developed by Innowato, we also drew a strategy for serving the new user experience, stemming from automatic actions that performed an immediate impact on the company’s organization.
We also faced the challenge of creating a name that could incorporate the proposal of making management easier as much as emphasizing the power of data exploration. Sensee started from there; it is the union between the words “sense” and “see” – the ability of giving sense to enormous data, envisioning the solution with intelligence and simplicity.
Stemming from the new name, the idea was to convey vision and simplicity. The logotype and its visual identity emerge concretely from the hugeness of data and information, taking form within a numerical matrix from which the letters and the brand rise.
